General Information
Our Mission
The mission of the Snake River School District is to provide an educational setting where students will
learn to solve problems, make decisions, acquire skills, and prepare them to use their knowledge
productively in an evolving society.
The District is committed to research-based practices, professional development for instructors, shared
decision-making, and informed use of technology.
The Instructional Program
Our instructional program focuses on excellence and total learning by the student. We have high expectations
from faculty, staff, and students.
Excellence Is Our Standard
Excellence
is not just a desire, it is required. We strive to hire the best, keep the best, produce the best,
and be the best. Nothing less is acceptable. The District Board of Trustees has set a goal to bring the
district to its highest level in each area of operation so that the youth leaving our schools will have
the foundations for a successful life.
The District
Snake River School District #52 is located west of Blackfoot, Idaho in a rural agricultural setting, encompassing
640 square miles and serves the communities of
 Moreland
 Riverside
 Thomas
 Rockford
 Pingree
 Atomic City
Our total student population is approximately 1870 in six schools. Most students are bused
to school, and total bus travel exceeds 300,000 miles each year.

The Community
The District serves a family-oriented community that has strong values and high standards.
It is an excellent place to raise children.
The patrons are very supportive of the schools and
insist on a high quality educational program.
The District is located in the heartland of some of Idaho's best hunting and fishing, and is surrounded
by some of the most scenic and enjoyable recreational areas in the world. The District is within easy
driving of Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, Jackson Hole, and Sun Valley.
Just 25 miles to the north is Idaho Falls, and 25 miles south is Pocatello, the home of Idaho State
University. Close by to the east is the City of Blackfoot, with an excellent golf course and an
enclosed year-round swimming pool. Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory is 40 miles
to the northwest. Nearby Fort Hall provides unique Native American Festivals with arts and crafts available.
With its Clean wholesome environment, excellent educational opportunities, and recreational setting, the
Snake River School District is an excellent place to live.
Community Involvement
- The Snake River School/Community Library (snakeriver.lili.org) serves the school district and community with wide circulation,
access to research capabilities, satellite technology, FAX service, and access to inter-library loan to
unlimited resources.
- The Snake River School District has an active District PTA Council.
- The Snake River School Educational Foundation assists the District in providing the highest quality of
educational programs and facilities.
- School Board Meetings are open to the public and are held on the 3rd Wednesday of each
month at 7 pm in the board room of the District administrative offices.
- An eight hundred seat auditorium provides seating for stage performances.
