What is Response to Intervention? Idaho Response to Intervention (RTI) is a framework for continuous improvement. RTI integrates assessment and intervention within a multi-level prevention system to maximize student achievement and reduce behavior problems. With RTI, schools use data to identify students at risk for poor learning outcomes, monitor student progress, provide evidence-based interventions depending on a student’s responsiveness, and identify students with learning or other disabilities, as defined by state law. ~Idaho State Department of Education

How Snake River is Making Strides:Our district has applied and been accepted to join Idaho’s Response to Intervention Project: “Moving Forward Through Partnership: Implementing RTI to Meet the Needs of All Learners.” This opportunity came about through a competitive grant process and is ultimately funded through Idaho’s inclusion in a federal grant wherin 22 states were granted funds “designed to improve personnel training systems to help children who are considered at-risk or with disabilities” (Idaho State Department of Education). Snake River Middle School and Snake River Junior High School were the two schools specifically targeted to benefit from the parameters of the grant; however, the district as a whole will benefit from the expertise and training that this opportunity will afford.
